OBJECTIVES
| OVERALL OBJECTIVES: The overall objective is to provide the participant with practical and clinically relevant information. Upon completion of this CME activity, the physician or healthcare provider should be able to describe the current approach to formulating differential diagnoses, diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive management of the various disciplines presented. |
| SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
| | Day 1 | Clinical Approach to the Patient with Rheumatic Diseases. - Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to:
| 1. | Discuss a systematic approach to the evaluation of the patient with rheumatic disease including:
| a. | Relate the central role of the history and physical examination.
| | b. | Discussing key x-ray findings in patients with rheumatic diseases.

| | Laboratory and Radiological Tests in Rheumatology. - Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to:
| | 1. | Appreciate the importance of synovial fluid analysis.
| | 2. | Appreciate the use and limitations of laboratory testing.
| | Soft Tissue Rheumatology. - Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to:
| | 1. | Describe the diagnosis and treatment of soft tissue rheumatic conditions.
| | 2. | Describe clinical aspects of entrapment neuropathies and their association with systemic conditions.

| | Idiopathic Inflammatory Myopathies. - Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to:

| | Crystal Arthropathies. - Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to:

| | Treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis. - Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to:
| | 1. | Outline a rational approach to the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.
| | 2. | Summarize the use and toxicity of disease modifying agents.
| | Fibromyalgia. - Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to:
| | 1. | Appreciate the epidemiology of fibromyalgia.
| | 2. | Describe the diagnosis and management of this common disorder.
| | Lyme Disease and Other Topics in Rheumatology. - Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to:
| | 1. | Outline several other conditions which have Rheumatic manifestations with emphasis upon evaluation and treatment.

| | Day 4 | Systemic Lupus Erythematosus. - Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to:
| 1. | Appreciate the varied clinical presentations and course of systemic lupus erythematosus.
| | 2. | Describe the use of laboratory testing in diagnosis.
| | 3. | Identify treatment options in systemic lupus erythematosus.
| | Scleroderma and Raynaud’s Disease. - Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to:
| | 1. | Describe the clinical manifestations of scleroderma.
| | 2. | Relate that treatment is available for symptomatic manifestations.
| | 3. | Describe the diagnostic work-up and treatment of Raynaud’s Phenomenon.

| | Septic Arthritis. - Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to:
| | 1. | Describe the diagnosis and risk factors for septic arthritis.
| | 2. | Appreciate the importance of early treatment, and indications for surgery.
| | Interactive Case Presentations, Part I & II. - Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to:
| | 1. | Identify a variety of manifestations of some common and uncommon Rheumatic diseases in a case presentation format.
